Ok, here are a list of things that I don't get...and prolly never will.
Maybe I'm just too judgmental.
1. Being Brand-Conscious
---------------------------
For the life of me, I do not and will not pay more than RM300 for a handbag or a pair of shoes just because its of a certain Brand. I never lusted after a branded item, unless I really like the design. But then again, I can never bring myself to dig into my pockets to pay for extravagant stuff. I just don't see the need to.
I'm quite a frugal person (not kiamsiap la) but I believe in making good use of my hard-earned money. I like stuff...but I'm not materialistic. I shop at markets, stalls and inexpensive places.
Honestly, who would know if that top you're wearing is Gucci or Prada or watever brand it may be, if it doesn't have a Logo printed for all to see. To me, its just another item of clothing/accessory.
Some say, "its the Quality", "last longer/forever/an eternity!". Trust me, more often than not, you're just another sucker paying big bucks for something probably made in a third world country. It won't turn you into a SuperHuman. Get over it.
Oh for that matter, I don't get the hype about Ipods. What is it that makes them so Extraordinary? Do the singers pop out of those things and break out into song for you? What?? In essence, they're just another MP3/4 device, no?
I have an MP3 player (a hand-me-down from dad) which plays whatever music I've downloaded. Just the same as any Ipod. So it doesn't play video clips. But do I really want my eyes to be glued on a small lil device my whole life?
HELLO? There's a WORLD out there waiting for me....I'm not gonna be stuck staring at some video clips and possibly walking into the drain.
2. Road Users
----------------
This topic was discussed on a local radio station last week and of course we've all had our fair share of errant/dangerous/annoying/rude drivers.
They invited listeners to give their 2 cents worth of which state had the worst drivers.
Oh come on, is that really fair.
There is NO ONE particular state with the worst drivers.
Bad drivers are indiscretionary. They are in EVERY state.
I know Penang drivers are not the best...in fact, they can be pretty darn rude.
Not stopping at junctions, switching lanes without warning and generally just Kiasu.
But since Penang is a popular "weekend destination" for most outstation folks, I've had my fair share of "interesting" motorist from practically ALL Malaysian states.
On that very day of the radio station's discussion topic, I was tailgated at highspeed by a Wilayah car and narrowly sliced off my lane when he cut in right at the end of the traffic lights (he was in the turning lane and wanted to go straight). No indicating, no slowing down, doesn't matter that I was rightfully ON that lane.
Would it break your itty bitty FINGER to flick on the INDICATOR?
Would it KILL you to just slow down and properly ease into another lane?
Would being ONE car ahead make A LOT of difference?
REALLY?
Maybe I'm just too judgmental.

3. Misbehaving Children
-------------------------
I love kids.
But I will NOT TOLERATE children that scream, run around, kick chairs and generally throw tantrums in PUBLIC.
I know kids are kids. But Parents should know better.
What kind of parent allows their kid to go tearing around a proper restaurant, kicking chair, pulling other patron's hairs and screaming their heads off?
I WILL TELL THEM OFF.
Parents AND Children.
I don't care if they're not MY kids, but I will NOT be subject to abuse, from ANYONE.
Do Not Test My Patience.
4. People who are afraid of small furry animals/dogs
------------------------------------------------------
I've had some ppl cringe away from my furbabies.
Even when I had them on their leash.
I once was exiting a lift with my babies and this lady and her mother were blocking the door.
Of course I don't allow my dogs to jump at people, so I held on tight to their leash.
The silly lady barely moved 2 inches for me to exit the lift.
Naturally in order to get out of the lift, we'd have to WALK forward.
Of COURSE my dogs would have to approach that silly woman if she was
STANDING RIGHT IN FRONT THE LIFT DOORS!
She jumped back, yelped and accusingly stated,
"how can this happen?"
(actually in Hokkien "an chua aneh kuan eh?")
(note : I was in a Dog friendly building)
JAYSUS KRIST la...
First of all, My dogs NEVER BIT ANYONE.
Secondly, I'm holding on to their leash.
and Thirdly, YOU ARE BLOCKING MY WAY, YOU STUPID WOMAN!
I just retorted, "I didn't do it on PURPOSE!"
She was a bit taken-aback by my reply, as she thought she could just run her mouth as she wished without consequences.
Oh, on the same subject,
there are complete morons out there who, for the lack of grey matter, would stand right in front of opening doors (lifts, trains) blocking the exit.
They DO know there might be people who need to EXIT right?
and it would be more feasible to get in when the passangers who want to disembark to get out first, right?
Not rocket science, right?
Yet, they insist on standing right in FRONT of the door and CHARGE in, with complete disregard to other passangers.
Back to animals.
I will also NOT TOLERATE cruelty to ANIMALS.
If I so much as see anyone torture a dog or throw a pebble at a harmless animal.
I will pick up that same pebble and throw it right back at the person.
TRY ME.
4. Hiding your smoking habit
-------------------------------
Excuse me if this offends those who are close to me.
But I don't understand why you have to hide your smoking from your parents.
You know smoking is bad for you.
And probably wrong in the eyes of some parents.
Then WHY SMOKE in the first place?
Yes, its addictive,
(how would i know? I've never taken a single puff in my entire 29 years of life)
I've been told.
What are the BENEFITS?
WHAT?!?!?
Some say "it relieves stress".
Hello? I have stress too, but
hey I can think of a MILLION other ways to relieve stress!
and Smoking isn't on the list.
"Keeps the weight off"
or
"Surpresses Hunger"
HAHAHAHAHHAHAH!!!
Good one, keep telling yourself that while you stuff your face.
Alright, all I have to say to that is,
If u dare to do it.
Don't be ASHAMED!
5. Rumour-mongers / Attention seekers
-------------------------------------------
Yes, people who create untrue rumours about other people.
Just for the sake of having something to talk about.
To speculate.
To make their pathetic lives more interesting.
And there you have it.
That's all I have time for today.
Tune in next time for the next episode of my random musings!
