I saw this nylon chew bone and decided to get that too...its about 4inches long (soft bone). I gave it to Chino and Zara last evening and because I only bought one...i gave them their regular rawhide bone to chew as well.
After watching tv, I called them into the room and was a little bit suspicious of the whereabouts of the nylon bone...so i went hunting all over the house for it. The last i saw of it was when Chino was tossing it around playing with it.
I suspected he must have swallowed it whole!! That greedy little fella regularly swallows half chewed rawhide bones (3.5inches long).
I couldn't find it ANYWHERE and when i asked him...he just looked at me sheepishly....avoiding eye contact. I KNEW he had swallowed it....
Of course I was worried! Its nylon...not digestable...and 4inches long!! After a good tongue lashing, i went to bed....fretting Chino might need to go for surgery to remove the bone.
This morning I googled "nylon chew bone" and "swallowing nylon bone". I also called Pam K and asked for her vet's number and she txted it to me.
I called the vet immediately...and the receptionist answered....and i bombarded her with so many questions.
Me : Hello, is this Dr Goh's clinic?
Receptionist : Yes, this is Dr Goh's clinic.
Me : Ok, I have this shih tzu and he swallowed a 4inch long nylon bone. Does he need surgery? or will he pass it out?
Receptionist : er, i think need to let the Dr see (have a look).
Me : Ok, how much would surgery cost if he needs surgery?
Receptionist : Depends, consultation is free...but cost of surgery will be decided by the Doctor.
Me : Oh ok, what are your opening hours?
Receptionist : From 9 to 5.30pm and until 5pm on Saturday.
Me : Oh, how about sunday?
Receptionist : No, we're closed on sunday.
Me : Ok then i'll try to bring him in today if i can. Thank you.
Receptionist : Welcome..bye.
So, I dont have much of a choice...i have to bring Chino in to the vet tmr. After chatting with a few other friends, I wanted to call Khengs to cancel our plans to meet for grocery shopping this afternoon...so i can take Chino to the vet.
I picked up my phone and it was still showing my contacts list....guess what??
I realised i called the wrong place! Yes, i had 2 Dr Goh's number in my phone's contact list. Dr Goh Dentist and Dr. Goh Vet. Guess which one i called?
HAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!
a huh...i called the DENTIST!!!!!!
How am i so sure?? Coz the number i called was a landline (shop) number...and the one Pam K gave me was a mobile number!!! HAHAHAHHAH!!!!!
I called Pam K and Khengs and we laughed till we cried!!!
I can't believe the Receptionist even entertained my stupid irrelevant questions!!! She must think i'm a blubbering fool!! Asking the dentist's clinic about my shih tzu!!!
HAHAHAHAHHA!!
Oh well, wat a Valentine's day its been....ok i must admit..i was feeling quite miserable at the thought of surgery for Chino and all that...but i must say...i feel heaps better now...even if it meant i had to make a fool of myself!
Its just $$...and I want him to be ok...so that lil cow will have to go for an X-ray or an anal probe...he's gonna "love" that!

Oh CRAP!!
I sat down on the sofa for my tv lunch....and er....found the blasted BONE!!!! stuffed between the sofa cushions!!
OH MAN DO I FEEL LIKE A COMPLETE AND UTTER FOOL!!
Phew!!! At least Chino doesnt have to have an Anal probe...or X-ray or SURGERY!! WHeee!!!!
Yes, i did apologize....and gave him a treat!! and a bath...(ok thats the opposite of a treat!! hurhurhur!)
V-day...always eventful for me....not always in a good way tho...but eventful nonetheless!!
